Take the "Change a Light" Pledge

Commissioner Bob Janes, Vice-Chairman of the Lee County Board of County Commissioners, would like to urge all citizens of Lee County to join him, the National Association of Counties (NACo) and Office Depot in the first-ever "County Change a Light Award Program."

Lighting accounts for 20 percent of the average home's electric bill and is one of the easiest places to save energy.  Simple steps, such as changing a light at home, can save on energy bills while also helping to reduce the risks of global warming.  Energy-efficient light bulbs and fixtures that earn the ENERGY STAR offer warm, bright light with the added benefits of using at least two-thirds less energy than traditional models and lasting up to 10 times longer.

NACo and Office Depot launched the 2006 "County Change a Light Campaign"earlier this month at the NACo's Annual Conference in Chicago.  The "County Change a Light Campaign" is a pledge-drive in which individuals pledge to change the most frequently used light in their home to an energy-efficient (ENERGY STAR) one.

You can join Commissioner Bob Janes in taking this pledge by clicking on at http://www.naco.org/changealight . Join today and help protect our environment.  By changing a light you will help to change the world.
