COMMISSIONER HALL NAMED TO STATEWIDE COMMITTEE

FORT MYERS, Fla. (July 20, 2006) – Lee County Commission Chairwoman Tammy Hall has been appointed vice chair of the Florida Association of Counties' (FAC) Finance, Transportation & Administration Policy Committee.

The committee is one of six that works with the FAC Executive committee and FAC's general membership to develop legislative policies for Florida's 2007 Legislative Session.

The Finance, Transportation & Administration Policy Committee deals with financial resources of counties, fiscal management, home rule, county structure and management, transportation, economic development, and appropriations.

Commissioner Hall was appointed by Susan Latvala, FAC President and a Pinellas County Commissioner.

FAC's mission is to preserve and promote democratic principles by working to keep appropriate authority at the level of government closest to the people, and to increase the capacity of Florida counties to effectively serve and represent the citizens of the state through legislative action, education of public officials, and enhancement of public awareness about the role and functions of county government.

It represents Florida's 67 counties and 377 county commissioners.  The Association's constituency also includes appointed county officials including administrators/managers, attorneys and other professional county government personnel.

Commissioner Hall was elected to the Board of Lee County Commissioners in 2004 and serves as the Board's first Chairwoman.  Her district includes North Fort Myers and the central and northern portions of Cape Coral.
