Lee County Visitor & Convention Bureau Selects Intern for 2006

LEE COUNTY, FL  (July 7, 2006) – Jean Fauntleroy has been chosen by the Lee County Visitor & Convention Bureau (VCB) as the 2006 candidate for the annual Michael B. Peceri internship program.

Fauntleroy, a senior at Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) in Fort Myers, is currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in resort and hospitality management.  After graduating from Scottsdale Community College in Arizona, with a certificate in hospitality and tourism/hotel management, she transferred to FGCU and relocated to Bonita Springs.  She developed a passion and appreciation for southwest Florida's unique environment during the years of family vacations on Sanibel Island.

Fauntleroy, who also holds a bachelor's degree in computer science, gained experience as a project manager during her career in IT, but returned to school following cutbacks in the industry.  While in Scottsdale she volunteered for K-LOVE / Air1 radio network, which redirected her career path into event promotion and public relations.

For FGCU's 2006 Wanderlust event, she developed and wrote media releases, as well as participated in other promotional efforts.  She plans to pursue a career in resort or destination public relations and promotions.
