No Personal Fireworks On Sanibel Causeway

Due to the ongoing construction project of the new Sanibel bridge, personal
fireworks will be prohibited on the Sanibel Causeway this 4th of July.  This will be
strictly enforced by the Lee County Sheriff's Office, the Sanibel Police Department and the Sanibel Fire and Rescue District.

It should be noted that using fireworks at any time is an arrestable offense.  There will be an increased law enforcement presence in the area as well as a zero tolerance policy in effect.  Fireworks will be confiscated and violators face possible charges.

Message boards will be placed at the toll plaza and span "B" reminding citizens that fireworks will not be tolerated.

The City of Sanibel will continue to hold its annual fireworks display.

Media inquiries are directed to the Public Information Officer at (239) 477-1340.
