Waste Pro of Florida Acquires Waste Services of Florida
Jun 2, 2006 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE FORT MYERS, Fla. (June 2, 2006) – Waste Pro of Florida, Inc. (WP) has purchased Waste Services, Inc.'s (WSI) Fort Myers operation effective June 1st, 2006. WSI's operation serviced the Lee County Solid Waste and Recycling Collection Franchise Agreement for Service Area 3 since October 1, 2005 and has also held the previous franchise agreement for that Service Area as Florida Recycling Services. The County's Service Area 3 is generally defined as the area south of the City limits east of US 41 and west of SR 82 to the City limits of Bonita Springs. It also includes developments in Bonita Springs such as The Brooks, Waterside, The Sanctuary, Las Palmas, Mesina, Merano, Bellagio, Nevona, Sorrento, Traviso, Castella, Bay Club, Palermo, La Scala, Heron Point, and Heron Cove. Waste Pro started a five year franchise hauling contract for Lee County's Service Area 5 on October 1, 2006 (Pine Island and area north of the Calloosahatchee River from west of SR31 to the Charlotte County). Waste Pro has proven to be dependable in providing service to its current franchised service area and has successfully handled the transition of service areas under the recent contract award. Waste Pro has provided the County transition plans to ensure a seamless transfer of service without customer interruption. This includes customer service representative levels consistent with the franchise agreements. Waste Pro has acquired all of Waste Services assets. Painting the commercial bins and dumpsters with Waste Pro's colors and company identification has started. Waste Pro will change the company logo from Waste Services to Waste Pro on its fleet of vehicles within 30 days. The acquisition does not result in changes of service days to residential customers for garbage, yard waste, and recycling collections. Customers in Service Area 3 may continue to call the 332-8500 phone number to reach a Waste Pro customer service representative. |
