COUNTY REQUESTING CITIZEN INPUT AT FISHERMAN'S COOP COMMUNITY MEETING

FORT MYERS, Fla. (May 23, 2006) – Lee County will hold a public community meeting June 8 to take citizen input on the development of Fisherman's Coop on Pine Island.

The meeting will be at 10 a.m. at Safety Harbor Club on Upper Captiva.

Its primary purpose will be to take input from outer island residents regarding the future use and development of the Fisherman's Coop site.  County staff from Public Works, Parks & Recreation, and Solid Waste, among others, will be present to answer questions and listen and record comments.

The county purchased the Fisherman's Coop boat ramp/transfer site on Pine Island earlier this year for $16 million.
