Apr 26, 2006 INFORMATION RELEASE Summer Reading Programs @ Your Library FORT MYERS, Fla. (April 26, 2006) - The Lee County Library System encourages children of all ages to participate in another summer of fun-filled reading and exciting activities at your library. The annual summer reading programs runs from May 24 to July 22, 2006. Summer reading programs are part of the statewide Florida Library Youth Program. Join the team and read for prizes, be entertained by puppet shows, magic shows, creative dramatics, storytelling, animal shows and more. The events are free for children ages 6 and older, but tickets are required and preregistration is requested. Tickets for each event can be picked up at the host library. The following three programs will be held: Read to Me: For infants to preschool. Read-to-Me encourages parents to read to their babies and to preschoolers. Summer Reading Team: For school-age children up to fifth grade. This year's theme, "Book Feast" promotes continuous reading during the summer. Click here for the Children's schedule (pdf). Teens Read & Win: For children in middle school to high school. This year's theme, "On the Edge" introduces teens to a host of recreational and educational opportunities and involves them in crafts, poetry, game night and many more entertaining events. A schedule of activities for all summer reading programs will be available starting May 24, 2006 at any Lee County Library System library location. Dates are subject to change, so please call or visit your library for a current listing of events.
