Commissioner Janes Commentary Article
Apr 14, 2005 COMMISSIONER BOB JANES, DISTRICT #1 PRESS RELEASE/COMMENTARY ARTICLE --- FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE This message is to let everyone know that the Babcock Preservation Partnership is continuing its mission to support the acquisition, preservation, conservation and management of the Babcock Ranch and Telegraph Swamp. We believe that there continues to be an opportunity for us to achieve our mission. Admittedly, we are regrouping after yesterday's news that the Babcock family declined the two offers put forward by the State. In the meantime, the BPP, Inc., invites each of you to share your thoughts on the next steps for the organization via email or phone call. Liz Donley, BPP, Inc. at 338-2556, Ext. 234 or ldonley@swfrpc.org. Now for some updates: Babcock Awareness Bracelets have arrived and are being labeled, sorted and sent out to retail locations: the Calusa Nature Center in Fort Myers, Ding Darling's gift shop, Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation's shop, and C Turtles & Co. all on Sanibel. To purchase 10 or more Cindy Bear will mail the bracelets AFTER she receives the order by emailing her and she replies. WHEN she receives the money she will mail out the bracelets. People wanting larger quantities bracelets can do a consignment order, min. 50, max. 200. Cindy's email: CindyB3@lee.k12.fl.us.
