Lee County Board of County Commissioners Chairwoman, Tammy Hall says it's important to recognize female heroes.

"Our right to vote isn't even 100 years old. Young women today don't realize our history and how the rights we have need to be cherished." Hall said.

The Lee County Library System's website has a special section devoted to Women's History Month, including other free library events that celebrate the achievements and history of women. There's also a collection of resources to help learn about Women's History, along with  links to Women's History web specials from CNN, The History Channel, Time for Kids and more.

The Lee County Library System and Woman's Day Magazine also encourage women to share their own history. Women can submit a short story, up to 700 words, about how the library has changed their lives. Four entries across the county will be published in an upcoming edition of the magazine.
