FLORIDA PANDEMIC FLU SUMMIT BROADCAST

FORT MYERS, FL. (February 10, 2006) Lee TV, Lee County's Government Access channel, will carry "Florida Prepares," Florida's Pandemic Readiness and Emergency Planning Summit, live from the Leon County Civic Center in Tallahassee on February 16th from 2:00 5:00 PM.  Home viewing will be available on Comcast channel 11 and Time Warner channel 16.

Vital Information for communities, business owners and individuals will be presented by nationally recognized experts during this important Summit, presented by the Florida Department of Health (DOH), the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).  
 
Governor Jeb Bush and Florida's community leaders will join Secretary Michael Leavitt, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Julie Gerberding, M.D., M.P.H., Director, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and other national pandemic experts to learn about national and local efforts to prepare for a possible pandemic.

Experts from the Lee County Health Department and Emergency Management Services will be viewing the proceedings at the Lee County Emergency Operations Center on Ortiz Avenue, and be available to answer questions.  The public may call in at anytime between 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM. at the following telephone numbers:  477-3690 or 479-8067 or 477-3693 or 477-3692.  (The area code for all lines is 239.)

The media press conference is 4:30 PM at the Lee County Emergency Operations Center, located at 2665 Ortiz Avenue in Fort Myers.
