Local residents decide how county spends funds for Human Services

FORT MYERS, Fla. (February 8, 2006) The Lee County Board of County Commissioners is seeking applications from citizens interested in being appointed to the Lee County Human Services "Partnering for Results" Proposal Review Panel.  Persons interested in serving on this review panel must commit to attend all meetings during the designated times.

The Partnering for Results (PFR) Program awards approximately $4 million in county general funds to non-profit agencies for the purchase of services that address the following four outcomes: Supportive Housing/Living, Economic Opportunity, Activities for Youth, and Basic Assistance.

The panel reviews proposals from various human service agencies and makes funding recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners. Visit http://dhs.lee-county.com/AP_Contracts_T16_R2.htm for more detail.

Meetings will be held on Tuesdays from 5:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m. during the months of April and May.  This is a good opportunity for citizens to participate in county decision making without having to attend meetings throughout the year since committee work is time limited.

Applications for Review Panel members are available from Lee County Department of Human Services located at 2440 Thompson Street, Fort Myers, FL on-line at http://dhs.lee-county.com/contracts/PRPRPApplication.pdf.   Applications should be returned to the Department of Human Services no later than March 1, 2006.   If you have any questions regarding this panel, or for more information, please contact Sharon Spry at 239-533-7919 or e-mail: sspry@leegov.com
