Human Services Unveils its New Website
Feb 6, 2006 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Media Contact: Karen Hawes, Lee County Human Services Lee County (February 6, 2006) When times get tough, more people need assistance. This is a steadfast rule that the Lee County Department of Human Services (DHS) knows all too well. Knowing what is available and where to go for the type of assistance you need can be difficult, especially when you need assistance the most. That's why Lee County Human Services streamlined their web site to better serve the community as well as the agencies they partner with on a daily basis. The site http://dhs.lee-county.com went live today and was designed to speed the time it takes to connect need with resources in our community. Improvements will be continuous and suggestions are welcome by all who use the site. Funding opportunities for area provider partners are linked within "Contracts", while information on down-payment and rehab assistance information can be found in "Housing". Links to rent, utility, and mortgage assistance along with helpful resources for special needs populations are plentiful within "Family Self-Sufficiency". You will find information and links for local juvenile Accountability Boards, homeless individuals and families, 211 information and referral, Long Term Disaster Recovery, service delivery planning documents, and more. You can even find information on opportunities to volunteer your time locally in any of these areas. New this year is a link for the Geographic Information System (GIS) projects that the Department uses to plan for the delivery of need services. Designed mainly for local partners that also use GIS (Police, Fire, EMS, Non-Profit Partnering Providers, etc.) project maps can be downloaded, and links to data are housed. Please visit the site and send comments/suggestions for improvement to Brownje@leegov.com |
