Lee Education & Employment Training for 2006

(Lee County, Florida JANUARY 24, 2006)
Lee County residents currently working at what they consider a dead-end job and/or feel they would like to increase their pay and chances for opportunity may want to take advantage of cost free job training in Medical Office skills. The L.E.E. program covers all costs for tuition, books and childcare (during class hours) and assists with job placement. Below average income qualifications apply.

This training is currently available through the Lee Education and Employment Program (funded by a Community Services Block Grant) These Federal dollars give individuals the opportunity to raise their income and enter a new career in medical records, insurance billing, or front desk support of a medical facility. The Medical Office Skills (certificate) Program includes keyboarding and computer applications, medical terminology, medical office procedures, basic billing and coding, Medical Manager software, HIPAA training and CPR certification.

Telephone interviews will be accepted starting January 25 thru April 14, 2006 or until the class is full.  Training will be held at the Professional Development Center at Southwest Florida College 6:30-9:30 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday nights starting April 18, 2006 continuing until graduation in November 2006.  The class is filled on a first-come, first-serve basis and fills quickly. Successful applicants must agree to continue employment throughout the training, maintain reliable transportation, provide proof of high school diploma or GED, and pass a basic general exam.

This program won a 2001 National Association of Counties Achievement Award for employment and training and was the only county program in the United States to win a 2002 Public Service Excellence Award.
