Lee Adds Written Transcripts of Meetings
Dec 19, 2005 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Paul Arthur, Division of Public Resources LEE ADDS WRITTEN TRANSCRIPTS OF MEETINGS FORT MYERS, FL. (December 19, 2005) Public Resources' LeeTV has added transcripts of regular Board of County Commissioners meetings on the County's internet site at http://www.lee-county.com/publicresources/autopage_T1_R7.htm. Lee TV the County's government access channel recently acquired closed captioning of regular Board meetings for the hearing impaired. The captured text from the captioning is now being formatted into a searchable PDF format that is available for the public to view. Speech is captured in "real time" with no editing at an accuracy level of approximately 98%. Although the transcripts will be a valuable informational resource to the public, citizens are encouraged to contact the Minutes Division of the Clerk of Courts for the official record. The transcript includes all agenda items that where pulled for discussion at regular Board meetings, along with Administrative and Board items that were discussed. The web page containing the transcripts has links to all Board agendas complete with back up. The web page also links to a "word searchable" video archive of commission meetings. The archive not only locates the meeting being searched but also plays back the video at the point where the search word was spoken. The closed captioning, video archive search and transcripts are results of the Board of County Commissioners and Administration's ongoing goal to provide enhanced communications to the public using "State-of the-Art Technology".
