FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LEE TV ADDS CLOSED CAPTIONING

FORT MYERS, FL. (November 16, 2005) - Lee TV, Lee County's Government Access channel, has adding closed caption of the regular board meetings for the hearing impaired. A bonus feature of this service provides citizens the capability to search online video archives of Commission meetings by the search word. Citizens will not have to fast forward to the point of the meeting they want to watch because the video will be "cued" for playback where the search word is spoken. Future plans include providing a verbatim transcript of regular board meetings that can be downloaded from the County's web site.

Both services are results of the Board of County Commissioners and Administration's ongoing goal to provide enhanced communications to the public using "State-of -the-Art Technology".

Regular Board meetings are broadcast every Tuesday at 9:30 AM on ComCast, Cable Channel 11 and on Time Warner Cable, Channel 16 and is also simulcast on the web. To view Lee TV live or search the video archives just go to the www.lee-county.com. the county's website and click on the LEE TV link.  You must have Windows Media Player, which can be installed at the site, to view the programming. Viewers will have the option to playback at broadband or dial up speeds.

Lee TV is the county's 24-hour government access channel, providing residents with information about Lee County Government as well as information on public safety and state related issues.  A broadcast schedule can be viewed on the county's Internet website.
