LEE COUNTY, FL (September 26, 2005) D.T. Minich, C.D.M.E., executive director of the Lee County Visitor & Convention Bureau (VCB), has been elected chairman of the board of the Florida Association of Convention and Visitor Bureaus (FACVB) at the organization's annual meeting in St. Augustine, recently.
VCB executive director since November 2000, Minich has served on the FACVB board for four years. The organization represents more than 32 of the state's official county and regional destination management organizations.
FACVB serves as the single unifying voice for all of Florida's convention and visitor bureaus, providing cooperative tourism industry education, enhancing professionalism, facilitating the cooperative exchange of information among Florida CVBs, developing an awareness of legislative issues, and unifying the state's CVB industry through public relations.
Minich is a graduate of the International Association of Convention and Visitor Bureaus' executive program, which is recognized as the highest educational achievement in the tourism industry. He received his Certified Destination Management Executive designation in 1999 and also holds a bachelors degree in history and marketing from the University of Kentucky. His overall goal as executive director is to strengthen Lee County's position as a visitor destination.
