Construction Barges in the Main Channel of the Sanibel Drawbridge
Jun 29, 2005 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Boaters Be Aware Fort Myers, FL, June 29, 2005 - Starting on July 5, 2005 for approximately one week, the construction barges will encroach in the main channel of the Sanibel drawbridge by approximately 50 feet in support of the construction of the new bridge. There is a federally declared no-wake zone 100 feet on each side of the drawbridge. Anyone in violation of breaking the no-wake rule could be subject to tickets and fines of up to $27,500 Two-way traffic is prohibited in the main navigable channel. You MUST slow your speed down and abide by the no-wake zone signs at the site of this construction. The construction of the new Sanibel Causeway bridges and improvements to the toll plaza and parking should be completed by January 2007.
