T.S. ARLENE: WEATHER ADVISORY AND SANDBAG INFORMATION

FORT MYERS, Fla. (June 10, 2005) - Per the National Weather Service, a Flood Watch remains in effect for our area through Saturday.  Tropical Storm Arlene is expected to produce gusty winds, numerous showers and scattered thunderstorms.  Tides may run one foot above normal.  Rainfall totals of 3 to 5 inches with locally higher amounts are possible.

These rains may produce localized flooding of low lying areas and some roadways.   Do not drive through flowing water or flooded roads if you cannot see the road surface.

Do not wade, or allow children to play, in floodwaters.  The water can be contaminated with raw sewage and/or hazardous chemicals.

Residents living in flood prone areas should take action to protect life and property.  Be prepared to move to higher ground if conditions warrant.  Small streams may exceed bank full.  Residents who experienced flooding in areas that received heavy rain last week should prepare for additional rises.

Stay tuned to NOAA weather radio and local media for updates.
