Third Annual BirdFest

Coordinate with Sandra Reynolds). WHAT: 3rd Annual Birdfest (It is FREE) WHERE: Lakes Regional Park, Gladiolus Dr. between U.S. 41 and Summerlin WHEN: 7:30 a.m. to noon, Saturday, March 5 ACTIVITIES: canoe tours of the rookery; guided tours of newly opened areas of the park; tips on nature photography and backyard habitat (free registration is at shelter B-1 at the beach). Birdfest is the kickoff to a month-long celebration of the birds in Lee County Parks and Conservation 20/20 Preserves. The islands of Lakes Park will be teeming with Anhinga, Great Egrets, Little Blue Herons, Tricolored Herons and White Ibis at various stages of mating, nest building and raising young.
