PugFest Raises Funds for Reading Festival and Animal Care Trust

Fort Myers, Florida, (February 11, 2005) A big event takes place in March to help raise money for animals in need and to support the Lee County Library System's Reading Festival. It's the Lee County PugFest.

The fundraiser is Sunday, March 20th from noon until 4:00 pm at the Bell Tower Shops in Fort Myers on the corner of US 41 and Daniels Parkway. The PugFest will feature a book signing by Reading Festival author and illustrator, Dan Yaccarino and his book, "Unlovable," about a Pug.  Other activities include a Pug fashion show, a costume contest open to all dog breeds, obedience training and therapy dog demonstrations, pet specialty vendors, and an auction.

The fundraiser is a joint effort by Lee County's Library System and Lee County Animal Services to benefit the Reading Festival and Animal Care Trust Fund. The Lee County Reading Festival, taking place on March 19th, is an annual event to encourage reading and use of the library's resources.  The Animal Care Trust Fund provides money for a variety of needs including affordable spay/neuter surgery for disadvantaged pet owners, care of neglected or abused animals, and disaster preparedness for pets.

More information on the needs of both organizations is available to stress the importance of this fundraising event that will directly benefit the community.  Call (239) 461-2914 or 432-2090 ext. 241 for more information about the PugFest, Reading Festival, or the Animal Care Trust Fund.  PugFest details are available online at www.LeeLostPets.com.
