LEE COUNTY SEEKING PROPOSALS FOR RED SOX SPRING TRAINING FACILITY

FORT MYERS, Fla. (October 23, 2008) – Lee County is soliciting proposals from private-sector entities that would like to partner on a potential Spring Training Facility for the Boston Red Sox.

The county is hoping to receive as many creative proposals as possible from developers, landowners, or other interested parties.

A minimum of 80 acres is being requested for the potential facility.  This property will be accepted on a donated basis, with the ability for private development around the complex.

All proposals shall include a full property legal description, STRAP number, address, survey, and any known development restrictions.

The deadline for receipt of the proposals is scheduled for Thursday, November 20, 2008 at 11:30 a.m.

A legal advertisement will appear in the Fort Myers News-Press Friday.

The county already has received a number of unsolicited, informal proposals.  This is a more formal process.

Proposals can be dropped of at the Lee County Contracts Management Office on the 4th floor of the DCD/Public Works building in downtown Fort Myers (1500 Monroe Street) or mailed to the Contracts Management Office at 1500 Monroe St., Fort Myers, FL, 33901.
