Lee County Veterinary Technician Receives Award
Sep 8, 2008 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Lee County Animal Services MEDIA CONTACT: Ria Brown, Public Information Specialist Lee County Veterinary Technician Receives Award Fort Myers, FL, 9/8/08 - Lee County Animal Services Veterinary Technician Maria Raiche was presented with an award from South Fort Myers High School Veterinary Instructor Mark Jones during a recent LCAS employee meeting. Instructor Jones thanked LCAS and also veterinary technician Maria Raiche for the wonderful partnership between the two organizations in providing training opportunities and observations for students to learn first-hand about veterinary topics and procedures such as spay/neuter surgeries and animal care. LCAS also thanked Instructor Jones and Principal Tommy O'Connell for their support and cooperation in utilizing the South Fort Myers High School as an emergency pet shelter in the event of necessary evacuations due to natural or man-made emergencies. The high school was recently utilized during Tropical Storm Fay to temporarily house animals and their owners during evacuation efforts along the barrier areas.
