Tropical Storm Fay Update 2:00 p.m.

1.     Lee County remains under a State of Local Emergency.

2.     Lee County Emergency Operations Center remains in an Activation Level 2.  Emergency staff continues to monitor the flood waters and communities in need of emergency assistance.  EOC staff is coordinating emergency assistance efforts with the local fire districts.

3.        A Fixed Aid Station for residents in need of food is set up at the Home Depot on Bonita Beach Road.

4.        Bonita Springs Utilities are in normal operations.

5.        Electricity services remain in normal operation unless imminent danger conditions exist.

6.        Flood waters continue to pose a health hazard with possible contamination from raw sewage and chemicals. People should avoid contact with standing water and keep all children away from the water. Any contact with standing water should be followed with vigorous soap and water washing.

7.        Citizens should only use 9 – 1 – 1 for true emergencies. 

8.        Citizens in need of weather information or general assistance should call  2 - 1 - 1....the local United Way Office.  Weather information can be received on NOAA Weather Radio. 

9.     Fire Districts are continually monitoring flooded roads in their districts and assisting citizens who need to evacuate their homes.

10.   Mandatory evacuation orders continue for the Manna Christian and Saldivar Mobile Home Parks, Taylor Lane, Oakland Drive, Quinn Street, Edith Drive, Downs Drive and Carpenter Street, all in Bonita Springs or east of Bonita Springs. When the water recedes to a safe level, fire departments will assess the damage to determine when and who will be allowed back in the evacuation areas.

11.   Estero Community Center is serving as a shelter for those who have evacuated their homes.  There were 425 people were in the shelter as of Wednesday, August 27, at 12 p.m.  Emergency Management is constantly monitoring for increased shelter need.  The American Red Cross is managing the shelter with assistance from the Lee County Sheriff's Office, Lee County EMS, Estero Fire Department, Estero CERT and the Lee County Health Department.

12.   Lee County Department of Transportation is attempting to clear ditches and canals causing the flooding.   It is posting signs and barricades as road are closed.

13.   No bridges are closed.

14.   Sand and sand bags are still available at numerous fire stations.  Citizens should contact their local fire district for a listing of specific locations of sand and supplies.

15.   No curfews are in effect
