FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CONTACT: EOC Public Information, 239-533-3710 or 239-533-3730

The Lee County Emergency Operations Center held conference calls this morning with the state, National Weather Service, and National Hurricane Center regarding Tropical Storm Fay.  The following summarizes current actions:

n      Current tracks still are divergent, but most have landfall Tuesday morning (8 a.m.) as a weak Category 1 hurricane on the west coast of Florida, including the Lee/Charlotte area (paralleling storm).  This could change.  Storm is expected to be more of a coastal storm surge and rainfall event than a wind event.

n      The EOC is at activation level 2 (partial).  No evacuations have been ordered at this time or shelters opened.  No closings, including schools, have been announced at this time.  That could change Monday.

n      The Board of Lee County Commissioners will consider declaring a State of Local Emergency at its zoning hearing Monday morning at 9:30 a.m. depending on conditions at that time.

n      Please monitor your local media for updates.
