Bike Path Detour for the Summerlin Road Widening Project
Jul 15, 2008 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE BIKE PATH DETOUR ESTABLISHED FOR THE SUMMERLIN ROAD WIDENING PROJECT FORT MYERS, FLA. (July 15, 2008) – The Lee County Department of Transportation (LC DOT) has established an alternate route for bicycle traffic normally traveling the Summerlin Road Corridor between Cypress Lake Drive and Boy Scout Drive. The alternate route is west of Summerlin Road and will remain as a detour through the duration of the widening project (see attached map). The route passes through Edison Community College, Whiskey Creek, and Tanglewood sub-divisions and utilizes a portion of the existing bike path adjacent to the west property line of the Cedar Bend sub-division. Users of the path traveling north will exit the detour at Matthew Drive where they can continue north on Summerlin Road or south on Summerlin Road to access Boy Scout Drive. Users traveling south will use the same route and exit at the intersection of Edison Lane and Cypress Lake Drive where they can travel east back to Summerlin Road. LC DOT recommends using the alternate route to avoid the construction zone as much as possible. Information regarding the alternate route can be obtained on the Lee County Website under the Department of Transportation at the following link: http://www.lee-county.com/publicworks/DOTitle.htm or contact Victoria Griffin by email at vgriffin@leegov.com or call 239-533-8580, ext. 48135. Any changes to the route and information regarding portions of the path that are under construction will posted on the web for the length of the project. |
