Animal Service in Need of Foster Parents
Jul 7, 2008 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Lee County Animal Service in Need of Foster Parents Fort Myers, Florida, 7/7/08-Lee County Animal Services is seeking foster homes for many of its resident pets. Foster parents provide temporary care and housing for dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens. Foster homes are especially needed when puppies and kittens, with and without their mothers, are too young to be adopted or when the facility is at capacity, Some dogs and cats have suffered abuse or neglect and are best kept in a home rather than the shelter to assist them through the recovery and transition period. Animal Services provides all necessary supplies including food, medications, and veterinary care if needed. For a variety of reasons, including shelter overcrowding, foster parents are more critical than ever in providing these pets with a chance for new homes and preventing them from becoming another euthanasia statistic. Thus far the current foster program has increased adoptions 47% and lowered euthanasia by 56%. By expanding the foster program to include more volunteers, Animal Services will be able to save more lives one pet at a time. You can help by becoming a foster parent too. Currently there are more than 50 pets in foster care but more homes are needed. If you are interested in becoming a foster parent, you can download an application from Animal Services' website at www.LeeLostPets.com. Information about other shelter programs and pets for adoption is also available online or by calling 239-533-7387 (Lee-Pets). |
