Animal Services Shelter in Need of Towels  

FORT MYERS, FL (June 24, 2008) - Lee County Animal Services is in need of large towels for the shelter animals.  Towels are used for the animals' care and comfort in their kennels and in the both the shelter and mobile clinics for post surgery care.  Animal Services takes in 1,300+ animals each month so maintaining a large supply of towels is crucial.

Bath and beach towels are the best size and do not need to be new.  Anyone interested in donating towels or other items such as cat litter, bleach, or paper towels, or food donations for Animal Services' Community Pet Pantry, may bring them to the shelter Monday through Saturday during business hours or drop them off at the front door after hours.  The shelter is located at 5600 Banner Drive in Fort Myers, next to the Lee County Sheriff's Office.

Lee County Animal Services provides animal control services throughout Lee County and operates an animal shelter to house stray and abandoned domestic animals. It also administers low-cost spay and neuter programs, educational initiatives, rabies and bite case control programs. 

Lost pets and pets for adoption may be viewed online at www.leelostpets.com.  Shelter business hours are 8:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Friday.  The shelter is open for adoptions and claiming lost pets from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday; 10:00 am to 6:00 pm Tuesday; and 10:00 am to 3:00 pm Saturday.  For more information call 239-533-7387 (LEE-PETS).
