UPS Expands in Lee County, Florida

(May 20, 2008) - UPS has announced its decision to expand their existing facility by 30,000 square feet in Lee County, Florida. The expansion will create approximately 20 new jobs in the local community and will continue to streamline operations and efficiencies in the Fort Myers area which should lead to continued growth. The facility is located at 2901 Cargo Street in Fort Myers. The expansion is expected to be completed by the fall of next year. The company plans to develop 5.4 acres to include an employee parking lot and tractor trailer station lot. A fuel facility and truck wash will also be on site. In addition, UPS plans to add technology including ergonomic loaders and technology to make loading easier at the package delivery, distribution and logistics facility. The Lee County Economic Development Office (EDO) has been working with UPS for the past few years on their expansion. UPS chose Lee County for their expansion after considering several other areas throughout the Southeast United States.
