Two medics will be honored for their selfless deeds when they receive the George Sanders Award at 12:30 p.m., today, May 21, at Lakes Park. This is the second consecutive year medics will be honored through a donation by the George Sanders Foundation. The two medics being honored during the EMS Week celebration of life have coordinated efforts to help the needy throughout the community as well as individuals with specific needs. Their names will be announced at the barbecue luncheon being served to honor all medics during this 35th Annual National EMS Week. The award recipients are chosen to represent pioneer Lee County resident George Sanders, best known for his faith, dedication to family and being true to his word. The recipients were nominated by their peers, and selected by a team of administrators and road crew.
