COUNTIES FRIENDLY CHALLENGE OVER KELLY CUP FINALS

FORT MYERS, Fla. (May 23, 2005) - Lee County Manager Don Stilwell and Mercer County, NJ Executive Brian Hughes have made a friendly wager over whose team will prevail in the ECHL's Kelly Cup Finals.

The Florida Everblades travel to Trenton, NJ this Friday to play the Trenton Titans in game three of the best-of-seven series (Trenton leads 2-0).

Stilwell accepted Hughes' challenge last Friday evening after Hughes reached him by phone.

If the Titans win the Kelly Cup, Stilwell will send Hughes a bushel of Florida citrus being provided by the Gulf Citrus Growers Association (see link to its web site at http://members.aol.com/gulfcitrus/index2.html).

If the Everblades win the Kelly Cup, Hughes will send Stilwell Trenton's famous pork rolls and tomato pies (pizza).

An identical challenge has been made between Fort Myers Mayor Jim Humphrey and Trenton Mayor Douglas Palmer.

The Gulf region produces about one-fifth of Florida's citrus crop, which means citrus has a $1 billion impact on the five-county Southwest Florida region.

The Gulf Citrus Growers Association is a trade association representing citrus growers in Southwest Florida.
