About Growing Up With Books packets

Growing Up With Books (GUWB)  is an innovative community partnership that teaches parents of three to five year olds how to provide their children with the early literacy skills needed to enter kindergarten.

Each packet contains a hand selected award-winning book for a child at this age (three to five years old), an activity book (with activities specifically related to story book and the performance standards), "Sunrise Skill Builders" (the governor's office publication with information on literacy skills for children), a library card application, a Lee County Library System Locations and Hours brochure, and a bookmark "7 Super Things Parents Can Do to Help Their Child Read".
There's also a page with information on further reading and a website with a list of other books that might interest children this age.

All titles and materials are available in English and Spanish.  Additional books and activities are available at the office of Child Care of SW Florida, Inc.  Partners in this program are Lee County Library System, Early Learning Coalition of Southwest Florida, Child Care of SW Florida, Inc.  and School District of Lee County's Early Childhood Learning Services.

A sign language interpreter is available with 48-hour notice. Call the Deaf Service Center at (239) 461-0334 (voice) or (239) 461-0438 (TTY). Assistive listening devices are available upon request.
