FREE SKYWARN STORM SPOTTER TRAINING

Fort Myers, FL (April 20, 2005) - The SKYWARN program is a partnership between the National Weather Service, Lee County Emergency Management Office, and volunteer "storm spotters" who relay reports of severe weather to the National Weather Service.  SKYWARN Storm Spotters aid their community by providing potentially life-saving information on weather related hazards.

SKYWARN training is free of charge to anyone who is interested. However, space is limited and advanced registration is required.  Please contact Lee County Emergency Management at (239) 477-3600 with any questions or to register for the class.

SKYWARN Storm Spotter Training will be held at:

Lee County Emergency Operations Center
2665 Ortiz Avenue, Fort Myers, Fl.

Basic SKYWARN Training is scheduled for (3 sessions):

Friday, May 20 at 1 p.m.
Friday, May 20 at 2:30 p.m.
Saturday, May 21 at 9 a.m.

Advanced SKYWARN training is scheduled for (2 sessions):

Friday, May 20 at 4 p.m.
Saturday, May 21 at 11 a.m.

You must complete BASIC SKYWARN to register for the ADVANCED session.

Dan Noah of the National Weather Service will conduct the training.
