Notice of Public Meeting
Tuesday December 20th, 2005
North Fort Myers Public Library 

Powell Creek Preserve, a Conservation 20/20 acquisition, is a 77 acre preserve in North Fort Myers, located on Hart Road, less than 1/2 mile north of Bayshore Road.  The Preserve contains a mix of hardwood and slash pine communities and Powell Creek.  The Preserve is also home to a number of gopher tortoises.  It is proposed that there will be approximately 1 mile of trails on existing roads in the Preserve.  There is already access to this Preserve through a gate off Hart Road.   

Lee County Parks and Recreation Staff invites the public to review the Land Stewardship Plan for the Preserve and attend this public meeting to comment on the plans for Public Use and Resource Based Recreation. 

All Conservation 20/20 Preserves allow hiking, bird watching, nature photography and nature study.  Other proposed amenities include a kiosk and small parking area for hikers.  

The public meeting will be held Tuesday, December 20th, 2005 at 6:00 pm at the North Fort Myers Public Library 2001 N. Tamiami Trail NE, North Fort Myers.  Come let us know what you think! 

The Stewardship Plan is available for review from November 29th  December 20th, 2005, at the North Fort Myers Public Library  2001 N. Tamiami Trail, North Ft. Myers - and at www.leeparks.org under the Natural Resources tab.  Written comments will be accepted prior to the commencement of, or during the course of the scheduled meeting.
