PUBLIC MEETING TO REVIEW POP ASH CREEK PRESERVE PLAN

FORT MYERS, Fla. (November 23, 2005) * Pop Ash Creek Preserve, a Conservation 20/20 Acquisition, is a 307 acre preserve in North Fort Myers, located on the corner of Nalle Road and Nalle Grade Road.

Lee County Parks and Recreation Staff invites the public to review the Land Stewardship Plan for the Preserve and attend this public meeting to comment on the plans for Public Use and Resource Based Recreation.

All Conservation 20/20 Preserves allow hiking, bird watching, nature photography and nature study.  An additional recreational opportunity for this Preserve is to continue to allow horseback riding.  Other proposed amenities include a possible small parking area for hikers and second equestrian gate on the southwest corner.  C20/20 Land Stewardship staff proposes to continue the highly beneficial cattle lease on the property while offering these limited recreational activities.

The public meeting will be held Friday, December 16th, 2005 at 6:30 pm at the Bayshore Fire Department -17350 Nalle Road, North Fort Myers.  Come let us know what you think!

The Stewardship Plan is available for review from November 22nd - December 16th, 2005, at the North Fort Myers Public Library - 2001 N. Tamiami Trail, North Ft. Myers - and at www.leeparks.org under the Natural Resources tab.  Written comments will be accepted prior to the commencement of, or during the course of the scheduled meeting.
