Dental Amalgam Rule

Effective July 14, 2017, the EPA Dental Office Effluent Guideline requires dental offices to adopt specific Best Management Practices (BMPs) to reduce mercury and other metal discharges from amalgam used in fillings. These metals can enter wastewater treatment systems and potentially be released into the environment.

All dental practices performing teeth restoration procedures must submit a One-Time Compliance Certification Form confirming adherence to these regulatory requirements.
