What is happening with the library books?

The books and materials are stored off-site during the renovation and will be returned for opening day, along with new items.

We expect to reopen Winter 2023. Watch for updates here on the library website and on our social media pages. You also can subscribe to the Riverdale Branch Library Events & Programs Newsletter for information on service updates, renovation news and virtual programs.

How is the renovation being paid for?

The Lee County Library System, which is supported through a dedicated millage, is using library reserves to fund this renovation.

What can I expect when the library reopens?

You can expect a bright, airy library with spaces for all ages! Planned renovations include larger exterior windows and a new ceiling configuration to take advantage of natural light. The furniture, flooring and paint will be refreshed and a new HVAC system installed. The new library shelves will hold a refreshed collection with materials for children, teens and adults. The service desk will be centrally located for the staff to better serve the public. New computers and Wi-Fi access points are included in the renovation, as well.
