This preserve consists of 10 land parcels acquired between 1999 and 2012, totaling nearly 450 acres. Most of these parcels are located adjacent to Charlotte Harbor Preserve State Park.

The preserve is rich in natural diversity, including critical coastal ecosystems. Plant communities include pine flatwoods, scrubby flatwoods, scrub, oak hammock, tidal salt flats, tidal marsh and tidal swamps. Wildlife that can be observed include American white pelican, gopher tortoise, six-lined racerunner and butterflies.

Portions of this preserve are co-managed with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and the adjacent state park.

While there is a paddlecraft launch at this preserve, visitors must carry their canoe or kayak into the preserve before reaching the launch area.
