This property was acquired by Lee County in 2017. At nearly 4,000 acres, the acquisition represents the second largest land purchase in the history of the Conservation 20/20 program.

The preserve was named by Lee County Board of County Commissioners after the late Commissioner Larry Kiker. Previously the preserve had been referred to as Edison Farms. The preserve is also adjacent to the 428-acre Hidden Cypress Preserve.

The preserve provides significant benefits for water resources and critical habitat for a variety of endangered and threatened wildlife species, including the Florida Panther.

Conservation 20/20 staff is currently preparing a land management plan for the preserve and determining future recreation opportunities.
