Source Interlink Relocates World Headquarters to Lee County, Florida

Bonita Springs, Fla. (August 17, 2001) – Source Interlink Companies (Nasdaq: SORC) www.sorc-info.com, the leading direct magazine distributor and provider of magazine sales information and services to the publishing and retailing industries, has announced its decision to relocate its world headquarters from St. Louis, Missouri to Lee County, Florida.

Source Interlink is the largest designer and manufacturer of front-end display fixtures for general merchandise and publishing and confectionary products. It was ranked among the fastest growing companies by Fortune Magazine in 1999 and 2000.

The move will create 240 new jobs, resulting in an estimated 322 indirect jobs, and is expected to have an economic impact of $19.1 million. Source Interlink will occupy a portion of a new 100,000-square-foot building in the Riverview Corporate Center on U.S. 41 in Bonita Springs, Florida. The relocation is scheduled for completion mid-2002.

The Lee County Economic Development Office (EDO) has been working with Source Interlink for nearly one year, aiding the Company’s decision to relocate to the area. Source Interlink chose Lee County after considering other areas throughout the nation. "Source Interlink’s decision to relocate here shows Lee County’s value as a site for business development," says Janet Watermeier, Director of the EDO. "Like many companies, they saw the advantage of doing business here."

With its acquisition of The Interlink Companies just months ago, Source Interlink (formerly known as Source Information Management Company) became the leading national direct distributor of magazines to major book chains and independent retailers, as well as the primary management and manufacturing company for the front-end check-out category. It distributes more than 6,000 magazine titles to more than 10,400 retail outlets nationally and in 68 countries. A few of its major distribution customers include Barnes & Noble, B. Dalton Booksellers, Borders and Waldenbooks. Its front-end display fixtures are used by many of the area’s most prominent retailers, including Winn-Dixie, Kmart, Wal-Mart, Walgreens, Eckerd Drugs, 7-Eleven, and Kash n’ Karry.

James Gillis, President and Chief Operating Officer of Source Interlink, stated, "Lee County offers a quality workforce, strong infrastructure and high quality of life. After comparing several sites nationally, these factors are what ultimately brought us here."

Paul Pass, Mayor of Bonita Springs, stated, "We welcome Source Interlink to Bonita Springs. Their presence is a significant contribution to the continued growth and prosperity of our community."

The Economic Development Office of Lee County works to attract new and diversified businesses resulting in high-wage, high-skilled jobs; retains and encourages the expansion of existing businesses; and improves the overall business environment in Lee County.
