Next week, Lee County Parks & Recreation (LCPR) will host Rec Camp to provide parents a fun and safe place for their kids (ages 6 to 13) to spend the post-Irma school outage. Alva Community Center, 21471 N. River Road, Alva, 239-728-2882 (NEW, beginning Tue, Sep.19)
When: Monday – Friday, September 18 – 22 from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Registration: Each camp will have limited space. Pre-registration via RecTrac is highly encouraged (https://webtrac.leegov.com). However, a limited number of walk-ins will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
Matlacha & Wa-Ke Hatchee are now FULL. Alva Community Center will accept a limited number of walk-ins (no pre-registration), beginning Tuesday, Sep. 19.
Waiver Required: Parents will need to sign a waiver form the first day your child attends camp.
Notice to Parents: Rec Camp is not a child care program. Children are allowed to enter/leave at-will. LCPR is not able to provide meals or transportation. Please send your child with lunch, snacks and a water bottle.
Club Rec & Fun Days Canceled: Club Rec and Fun Days September 18 – 22 are
canceled. If your child was registered for either of those next week, you will be
refunded. Prior registration for Club Rec and Fun Days is separate from registration for Rec
Future Planning: Lee County Parks & Recreation is planning Rec Camp at additional locations this week, as power is restored to facilities and more buildings become available. Check online at www.leeparks.org or www.leeeoc.com. City residents can also check with their municipalities, many of which are also hosting camps for children out of school due to Hurricane Irma.
