Our free, all ages Summer Reading Program is designed to nurture and grow a lifelong love of reading. Enjoy learning through special events, reading challenges and engaging activities.

Free Book for Kids and Teens

Every child and teen can choose a free book from a variety of popular titles, while supplies last. Free books must be claimed in-person by the child or teen at any of our 13 branches from now until August 1. 

Free Special Events

Plan your summer of fun! Special programming for children and teens are available including puppets, science, magic and more! Adult programs vary by branch. Registration may be required at some locations and space is limited. Grab a monthly events flyer at the branch or go to leelibrary.net/events to view the full program schedule.

We provide both online and offline options to challenge yourself to a summer of reading and kindness!

Online

If you already have an account, simply log in and add the 2023 Summer Reading Program. If not, sign up for a free family or individual READsquared account at leelibrary.readsquared.com or download the app from Apple or Google Play. 

Earn points by logging daily reading and/or completing mission activities in READsquared. All participants who earn 500 points by Aug. 1 are automatically entered into the prize drawings.

Offline

Our Kindness Bingo paper challenge will be available at all Lee County Library System locations for those who prefer an offline experience. Complete the bingo and reading activities and return the form to the library by Aug. 3, 2023 in order to be eligible for the prize drawings.

Participants must choose either the paper or virtual program. One entry per person, system-wide. Multiple entries may result in disqualification from the prize drawings.

One winner per library branch, per age group. Winners will be drawn the week of Aug. 7, 2023.

  • Birth to 5 – Prize Basket filled with new Board Books and Picture Books, a puzzle and more. 

  • Kids (ages 6-11) – Prize Basket filled with new 2023-24 Sunshine State Young Reader Award and Jr. Award titles, a Lego kit and more!

  • Teens (12-18) – Prize Basket filled with new 2023-24 Florida Teens Read books and popular titles, games and more!

  • Adults (18+) – Prize Basket filled with donated popular adult titles, a puzzle, and more!
