Estero

 

Estero is a suburban community located in southwest Lee County, north of the City of Bonita Springs.  A community of neighborhoods, Estero is comprised of more than 60 neighborhoods including the Brooks, Pelican Landing, Grandezza, and Belle Lago.  Estero has worked to ensure that its community members are actively involved in helping guide the community’s future design and development.  Additionally, the community’s planning efforts seek to provide Estero the economic, commercial service, and cultural resources desired by its residents.  Estero Community actively works to implement and develop a variety of community planning projects:

 

  • Estero Community Plan and Lee Plan Goal 19 process the character, natural resources, and quality of life in Estero by establishing design criteria, residential and commercial locational standards, and opportunities for active community participation. 

 

  • Estero Land Development Code, Chapter 33 Article II addresses community-wide development standards that encourage mixed-use developments, interconnectivity, pedestrian activity, and design standards.  

 

  • Estero Plan and Land Development Code Update refine the community plan, Lee Plan goal, and land development regulations for better direction about the design and function of future development efforts.  This is an active community planning project. Community Project Presentations:

The owner or agent applying for the following types of county approvals must conduct one public informational session  within the community plan area prior to obtaining a finding of sufficiency.

  • Development order
  • Planned development
  • Conventional rezoning, special exception or variance
