<p style="line-height:normal;margin:0in 0in 0pt;vertical-align:top" class=MsoNormal><span style="font-family:'Verdana','sans-serif';color:black;font-size:8.5pt">A resolution was introduced at the BoCC meeting on Tuesday, May 14th, which provides authorization and a mechanism for Lee County to accept the donation of land and allows the County to pave roads in Suncoast Estates over a period of time utilizing Community Development Block Grant funds. Ongoing maintenance of the paved roads and the canal will be the responsibility of Lee County once they are brought up to County standards and formally accepted by the County for maintenance.       <title>Public Participation Welcome in Search For County Attorney</title>

<p style="margin:0in 0in 0pt" class=MsoNormal><span style="font-family:'Arial','sans-serif';font-size:10pt">Lee County’s BoCC county attorney recruitment web page has been developed to provide the public with information about the search for a new county attorney, and it’s now open for people who want to submit questions for the candidates who will be considered for the position. This is similar to a web page set up earlier this year for the public to submit prospective county manager interview questions. </span></p>
<p style="margin:0in 0in 0pt" class=MsoNormal><span style="font-family:'Arial','sans-serif';font-size:10pt">The Lee County Board of County Commissioners is tentatively scheduled to interview the finalists for the county attorney position in early August.  </span></p>

      <title>Volunteers Needed As Florida High School Athletic Association swings into Lee County</title>

<p style="margin:0in 0in 0pt" class=MsoNormal><span style="font-family:'Arial','sans-serif';font-size:10pt">More than 30 of Florida’s best high school baseball teams will compete for their respective class titles starting May 15 at JetBlue Park.</span></p>
<p style="margin:0in 0in 0pt" class=MsoNormal><span style="font-family:'Arial','sans-serif';font-size:10pt">The tournament will showcase 32 teams from the Florida High School Athletic Association Baseball Finals, including the contenders for the state championships in 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A, 5A, 6A, 7A and 8A.</span></p>
<p style="margin:0in 0in 0pt" class=MsoNormal><span style="font-family:'Arial','sans-serif';font-size:10pt"></span></p>
<p style="margin:0in 0in 0pt" class=MsoNormal><span style="font-family:'Arial','sans-serif';font-size:10pt">Lee County has not hosted one of the state baseball finals since 1967. Bringing the event to Lee County was a combined effort of the Lee County Sports Authority, Lee County Parks &amp; Recreation, the Red Sox and the Lee County School District. The Florida High School Athletics Association’s event has an estimated economic impact of $1.8 million.</span></p>
<p style="margin:0in 0in 0pt" class=MsoNormal><span style="font-family:'Arial','sans-serif';font-size:10pt">Play will happen Wednesday, May 15, through Thursday, May 23, with the exception of Sunday, May 19. So far this year, the site also has been used for a sports expo, a rock music festival, a women's collegiate rugby championship and an auto-sale event.</span></p>
