The Emergency Solutions Grants Program (ESG) focuses on assisting people to quickly regain stability in permanent housing after experiencing a housing crisis and/or homelessness. Grant funds are distributed by formula to metropolitan cities, urban counties, territories and states for street outreach, emergency shelters, homelessness prevention and rapid re-housing assistance.

The ESG program provides funding to: engage homeless individuals and families living on the street, increase the number and quality of emergency shelters for individuals and families experiencing homelessness, rapidly re-housing individuals and families experiencing homelessness, and provide essential services to promote housing stability.
