This property was acquired by Lee County in December 2017 and will be managed as part of the Conservation 20/20 program. At nearly 4,000 acres, this acquisition represents the second largest acquisition in the history of this program.

The land provides significant benefits for water resources and critical habitat for a variety of endangered and threatened wildlife species, including the Florida Panther. Conservation 20/20 staff is currently conducting field work to create a land management plan and determine nature-based recreation opportunities appropriate for this property.

The name “Edison Farms Preserve” is a currently a placeholder until an official name for this property is proposed and approved by the Lee County Board of County Commissioners.
