LEE COUNTY ANIMAL CARE TRUST FUND RECEIVES LARGE DONATION

 

Fort Myers, Florida, December 29, 2003—The Lee County Animal Services’ Animal Care Trust Fund has received the first installment of a donation worth over $40,000.  This generous donation comes from the estate of Edward K. Fry.  The donation is the largest ever received by the Animal Care Trust Fund and is more than the fund typically receives during an entire year. 

 

The Animal Care Trust Fund was established in 2002 to assist homeless, abused and neglected animals. The fund provides for programs to improve animal care and welfare in Lee County.  Some of the programs the fund was established to assist include: spay/neuter programs for low income and disadvantaged pet owners, assistance in the care and placement of abused animals, permanent microchip identification programs for animals, disaster preparedness for animals, early-age spay/neuter education, adoption of animals, and emergency veterinary medical assistance for disadvantaged pet owners.
