LEE TV TO BROADCAST BROOMHEAD MEMORIAL SERVICE

FORT MYERS, FL. (December 9, 2003) Lee TV, Lee County's Government Access channel, will broadcast, via tape, the recent memorial service held for Sergeant Thomas F. Broomhead, U. S. Army, who was killed in combat in Iraq earlier this year.

The hour-long program will be aired on successive Mondays December 15th & 22nd at 8:00pm, ComCast channel 11 and Time Warner, channel 16.
 
The ceremony, where Broomhead's name was added to the Veteran's Memorial Monument in front of the old Lee County Courthouse, was held November 7th. The Board of Lee County Commissioners, Lee County School Board, Lee County Sheriff's Office, Lee Memorial Health System, and local veteran's organizations sponsored the event.
 
Sgt. Broomhead graduated from Cypress Lake High School in 1987. He then spent 4 years in the U.S. Marine Corps and served in the First Gulf War. After his honorable discharge, he moved to Arizona and met his future wife Kelli. They have three sons. In 1999, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and became a Bradley commander in in the 3rd. Cavalry Regiment.
 
Sgt. Broomhead's mother and brother, both Lee County residents, attended the ceremony and his brother Mike, from Phoenix, Arizona, delivered a stirring eulogy.
 
The memorial service was taped and produced by Lee County's Division of Public Resources, which oversees the county's television station. Lee TV is the county's 24-hour government access channel, providing residents with information about Lee County Government as well as information on public safety and state related issues.
