"Boys of November" Return to Lee County for Annual Roy Hobbs Baseball World Series

Ft. Myers Florida – (Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2003) November's version of the  "Boys of Summer" will soon be apparent in our community, as teams from throughout the country converge on Lee County for the annual Roy Hobbs World Series scheduled  to begin November 1st.

Currently, there are 179 thirty-five year old and over teams signed up for this annual event. This year's tournament will host teams from as far away as Russia, Canada, the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. As in past years, this tournament has a women's baseball component that has gained steadily in popularity.

Roy Hobbs baseball is not only about baseball, it's about giving back. This years program will feature a program to benefit amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). (Separate release attached)  

The Roy Hobbs World Series began in November of 1993 with 54 teams, and has called Lee County home ever since.  The event has grown to be one of the largest annual events hosted in Lee County. 

Games will be held at nearly every multi-field complex in Lee County including historic Terry Park, the Lee County Sports Complex, City of Palms Park , the Red Sox 5-plex and the Cape Coral Sports Complex. The event will take place through the end of November. A complete schedule is attached.
