LEE COUNTY'S MOLD CONTROL EFFORTS GET NATIONAL ATTENTION

FORT MYERS, Fla. (October 2, 2003) - Lee County Government's Facilities Management Division is featured prominently this month in a television program that reaches a national and international audience.

The program - Alexander Haig's World Business Review - is seen on U.S. Public Television stations, Tech TV outlets and independent carriers.  Lee County is featured for its work to prevent mold from growing in its building ventilation and HVAC systems.

The county uses a product of BBJ Environmental Solutions to clean its ventilation systems.  The compound is environmentally friendly and also is found in such things a baby wipes and cosmetics.

Featured in the program are county Preventative Maintenance Coordinator Michael Casanova and Facilities Management Director Rich Beck.  The county had Casanova certified as an indoor air quality specialist specifically to deal with mold issues in Southwest Florida's damp and humid climate.  Since using the compound, the county reports having had very few mold problems
