CRYSTAL DRIVE @ RAILROAD CROSSING
REMAINS CLOSED FOR REPLACEMENT
THROUGH APRIL 16TH

Fort Myers, FL, April 9, 2003 - CRYSTAL DRIVE WILL REMAIN CLOSED AT THE RAILROAD CROSSING TO ALL VEHICULAR AND PEDESTRIAN TRAFFIC THROUGH WEDNESDAY, APRIL 16th. The Lee County Department of Transportation, in conjunction with Seminole Gulf Railroad, began work to replace the railroad crossing on Crystal Drive last week. Due to a railroad crossing emergency this past weekend, work at the Crystal Drive crossing has been delayed. The Crystal Drive crossing is expected to re-open at 5:00 p.m. on April 16th. Lee County DOT and Seminole Gulf Railroad apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

The traveling public will be required to continue using alternate east-west routes such as Colonial Boulevard or Danley Drive to the north and Daniels Parkway to the south. Streets to businesses and residences located off Crystal Drive from U.S. 41 to Fordham Street will remain open to local traffic only. Crystal Drive will not be a through road during this period. (See map.)

Variable message signs will be updated to inform travelers of the extension and to use alternate routes. Emergency and community service providers have also been notified about the extension of the closure.
